Currently in AnotherEidos, there are 8 classes, each with their own specialization, which is further divided according to their traits. Certain characters are outliers to their class.
Fighter
Fighters specialize in close-ranged combat. Although Fighters don't typically have any special perks about them besides hitting nearby enemies, their high damage and high Block makes them apt at both attacking and defending at the same time. Although they might not have the highest Defense, their high Attack means they can defeat enemies quickly before taking too much damage. They are unable to hit flying enemies.
Expected Role: Melee Physical DPS
Outlier Units: Jalam (Reaches Aerial enemies), Billford (Blocks 3)
Possible Traits
Caster
Casters specialize in dealing large amounts of long-ranged magic damage. They are able to hit flying enemies. Their Skills usually focus on increasing the damage they do. They usually have low HP and Defense, so it's recommend you support them with healing and defense.
Expected Role: Ranged Magic DPS, Reaches Flying Enemies
Possible Traits
Shooter
Shooters specialize in dealing long-ranged physical damage. They are typically able to hit flying enemies, but Ballista-type units cannot. Although they usually deal less damage than Casters, Shooters typically have lower Cost and slightly higher Defense than Casters, as well as Skills or Natures that usually lean more towards supporting allies rather than just damaging enemies.
Expected Role: Ranged Physical DPS, Reaches Flying Enemies
Outlier Units: Bandit Ballista and Imperial Artillery Soldier (Can't reach flying enemies)
Possible Traits
Guard
Guards specialize in defending and taking hits. They usually have high Block, HP, and Defense, but low Attack and Attack Speed. By default, they are unable to hit flying enemies. Although they have higher Block than other units, their low Attack usually means they have to be supported by damage dealers to be effective.
Expected Role: Tanking, Stalling
Possible Traits
Vanguard
Vanguards specialize in building up Cost. They typically take low Cost to deploy, and usually have Skills that increase your total Cost. In addition, Vanguards gain 1 Cost whenever they land the killing blow on an enemy, and their Cost amount is refunded when you manually retreat them. By default, they are unable to hit flying enemies.
Expected Roles: DPS or Tanking (Early Game), Cost Generation
Outlier Units: Rasho (Skill changes class to Fighter)
Possible Traits
Healer
Healers, of course, heal your units. They are usually unable to damage enemy units. They heal by the same value as their Attack and Attack Speed. Just like how some units are able to damage multiple enemies in one attack, some healers are able to heal more than one ally in one heal, although this lowers the individual power of each Heal.
Expected Roles: Healing
Possible Traits
Supporter
Supporters specialize in buffing the power of your units, debuffing the power of enemies, or attacking behind the frontlines with ranged attacks. With proper placement, using multiple Supporters can be more powerful than multiple Fighters. Some Supporters are able to Heal. Supporters have a wide variety of attack ranges and types, but they are usually unable to hit flying enemies. Unless specified otherwise in their trait, Supporters by default inflict Magic damage.
